
YAL Overview
The Young Adults Lift (YAL) program serves youth and young adults who are being released from, or were formerly incarcerated at, the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility. It also supports individuals on probation or enrolled in a court-ordered diversion program.

YAL provides essential services to facilitate a successful transition into the community. These services equip participants with knowledge, tools, self-awareness, basic needs, and a strong support system to promote long-term stability and success.
Basic Needs
Financial assistance for a monthly grocery budget and purchase of new clothes, in addition to funds to open a bank account upon completion of the program.
Educational Workshops
Financial literacy, nutrition, communication, goal development, and career planning.
Support
Empowerment session, mock-interviews, and behavioral and mental health assessment, including a long-term support plan through our partner organization.
Youth Activities Program Eligibility Overview
Submission of a program application is required to request services. Some services may require proof of eligibility
by supplying requested documentation .
The minimum eligibility requirements for applicants are based on meeting two or more of the following criteria:
Age
Young adults must be between 17 and 26 years of age.
Former Incarceration or Probation Diversion Program
Current or former documented foster youth or recent incarceration in a youth detention facility.
Enrolled in School
Youth is enrolled in a public or charter school; elementary, junior high or high school.
Reliable Transportation
Reliable transportation to get to and from games, lessons or facilities where programs are held.
Income
All earned income is from government assisted services or minimum wage employment; the individual's or family income is at or below 250% of the FPL; or the household expense ratio is exceeded.
Attendance
Agreement to attend and participate in all required workshops.
