SERVICES

Transportation Service Overview

All program services depend on the availability of funding.

Program services are provided on a first come, first serve basis to applicants located within the Sacramento Metropolitan Area.

Limitations may apply to the amount of financial assistance allowed for each service and the number of times the same service can be requested.

Gas Assistance

Financial assistance to purchase gas at a HERB selected fueling station, utilizing a pre-paid card. Attendance of a HERB facilitated budgeting workshop may be required.

Transit Pass

Online purchase of a semi-monthly or monthly pass, for pick-up at a transit retail outlet or receipt via mail; for qualified transportation needs, including  work, school or job search.

Transportation Program Eligibility Overview

Submission of a program application is required to request services. Some services may require proof of eligibility by

supplying requested documentation. 

 

The minimum eligibility requirements for applicants are based on meeting one or more of the following criteria:

Age

Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.

Foster Youth

Current or former documented foster youth.

Enrolled in School

Enrolled in high school, or at least part-time, in an accredited college or trade school; successfully having completed at least one semester.

Recent Incarceration

Recent release from incarceration from a juvenile center

or county jail.

Income

All earned income is from government assisted services or minimum wage employment; or the individual's or family income is at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty level.

Recent Inability to Work

Experiencing a significant reduction in pay or not receiving any income, due to being in between jobs, or on FMLA and have exhausted all sick and vacation or PTO time.
